Sudden Summer

Shivering in winter

On cold ice, barefoot I met her;

A look! Thus began summer.

So that was my first attempt at Senyru. I was quite impressed with this form of poetry, when I came across it in Poems to the Ocean (Adam’s blog). Read through a few of his posts, and I couldn’t wait to give it a shot. Pardon me, if its not in the correct structure. I would love to hear what you think on the same. Thanks!

  1. Sonu, it’s beautiful! You have a wonderful talent for poetry! Senryu has the same structure as haiku, 5-7-5, and tanka is like senryu and haiku but with two added lines, it is 5-7-5-7-7. A friend of mine has some wonderful senryu, haiku and tanka on one of her sites, I look forward to reading more of your poetry ๐Ÿ™‚

    • you made me smile, jingle! i read through what you write, and I’m sure you would catch up in no time! Thanks for mentioning my blog. Do check out my latest senyru post. Inspired by you.

    • Thanks a lot Lua. Yes, I was quite amazed by senyru the first time I read it too! Why don’t you try writing a few? I assure you the experience of writing one is truly amazing too!
